The Foundation Academy believes the “question to be asked at the end of an educational step is not what has the student learned? but What has the student become?”
It is not enough to be trained as an artist but as a person. The Foundation Academy is committed to the power of the arts to build a foundation for our students as people of the world. The Foundation Academy is a coed college preparatory school serving students K4-12th grade. With progressive art centered education, parents are attracted to TFA because they are finding that it appeals to their children’s artistic and academic needs while promoting spiritual and emotional health.
Brief History
The Foundation Academy was founded in 1988 by principal Nadia Hionides. The Foundation Academy has served students from Kindergarten to 12th grade for the past 21 years. Mrs. Hionides opened the school with a total of three students. Today our current school population reaches 260 students and growing. Our new campus provides us the opportunity to serve 350 students in a 24 acre campus. It enhances all we do because we’ve added outdoor arts and gardening as well as a great field for play and games. We now have a theatre on our campus. Our arts opportunities are endless with rehearsal and performance spaces available to all students.
. The Foundation Academy is fully accredited by the National Independent Private Schools Association (NIPSA) and The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The arts have always been a central theme of The Foundation Academy. Arriving from a background in the arts and education, Nadia Hionides always understood the importance of arts in a student’s curriculum for growth and development. And so today, The Foundation Academy provides students K4-12 with a college preparatory education and integrated art program. We believe the integration of the arts provides students with an outlet for their creativity and personalized learning styles.
