Foundation Academy encourages all our seniors to further their education
through post secondary endeavors in four year state or private colleges or
in A.A. degrees leading to university transfer to a B.A. or B.S. degree. Other
popular choices are A.S. degrees such as Biotechnology or Technical Theatre
and certification programs such as Culinary or Automotive Technology. Some
students choose to enter one of our military branches. We have a Senior
Institute led by Mrs. Nadia and Ms. Anne where seniors develop community
service projects and a senior exit portfolio to be ready for graduation and
real life skills.

We visit FSCJ, UNF, JU and other local college campuses, have speakers and
go on field trips to expose our students throughout the years to their post
secondary options.

In their senior year, students may take the ACT, SAT or ASVAB, TABE or PERT
tests, depending on their goals.  The ACT or the SAT is required for
students to qualify for the Bright Futures Scholarship. Look on their
websites for dates of registration and changes in GPA’s and scores between
the classes of 2012 and 2014 and beyond.(www.brightfutures.org, www.act.org
and www.collegeboard.org)

In January, after the prior year’s income taxes have been filed, students
must fill out the federal FAFSA form to receive any scholarships. Foundation
has a special scholarship good at FSCJ and UNF called the Scheidel
scholarship which is part of the general scholarship application FSCJ
offers. Many of our students receive Pell Grants and work-study assistance.

There is a special senior meeting at the end of January for parents who have
questions about the process, but should any student or parent have questions
before that, Anne Bruno, Academic Advisor, is available for individual
appointments in the afternoons. Our graduates have gone on to much success
in the past 25 years of Foundation Academy’s existence, being prepared to
critically think, innovate and work collaboratively in the real world.
Please call the school and ask for Ms. Bruno should you need assistance in planning
with your student.
