Originally situated in Jacksonville Beach from 1988 to 2007, The Foundation Academy transitioned in 2008 to its current 23-acre campus, a haven for learning and growth. This picturesque environment, featuring organic gardening, an aquaponic farm, sports fields, playgrounds, a theater building, visual arts studios, and collaborative classrooms, enhances our familial atmosphere.
Our committed staff engages in weekly development sessions, tailoring strategies to elevate each learner to surpass high expectations. Our adaptive curriculum addresses evolving student needs, integrating global events and issues. Through Project Inquiry Based Learning (PIBL), we weave the arts and sciences into the fabric of real-world experiences.
Since 1988, The Foundation Academy has nurtured critical thinkers and leaders within a culture of warmth and respect. These resilient individuals collaborate effectively, honoring differences and valuing unique contributions. Equipped with such qualities, our graduates confidently pursue college, careers, and military service.
As the principal and founder, I am grateful for the enriching connection with our families. Observing our graduates persevere through life's challenges on platforms like Facebook fills me with pride. It is with anticipation and gratitude that I extend a warm welcome, inviting you to experience the unique essence of our institution. "At The Foundation Academy, our mission is to empower children in the discovery of their God-given purpose and inherent worthiness in the world. Acknowledging the uniqueness of each student, we foster a nurturing environment grounded in the principles of faith, hope, and love. Our commitment extends to the celebration of cultural diversity, the cultivation of critical thinking skills, and the inspiration of a lifelong love for learning."
The foundational principles of The Foundation Academy (TFA) are rooted in the timeless values of faith, hope, and love, as inspired by the teachings of Christ. Our commitment to collective enlightenment finds expression in a daily non-denominational Bible study, fostering spiritual growth and unity among our students.
Recognizing the intrinsic connection between a sound mind and a healthy body, we embrace the practice of school-wide Tai Chi, cultivating physical well-being as an integral part of our educational ethos. The intimate sense of community is cherished at TFA, epitomized by our dedication to maintaining a small school atmosphere, where everyone is valued and known.
Effective communication is the lifeblood of our educational philosophy, exemplified by the morning attendance of all students in advisory classes. This intentional setting provides a platform for open dialogue and mutual understanding, reinforcing the sense of belonging within our academic family.
Stewardship of our planet is a core tenet of our beliefs, evident in our visibly "green" campus practices. TFA is dedicated to instilling environmental consciousness and nurturing a sense of responsibility for the earth and its resources.
Acknowledging the transformative power of the arts, we integrate project-based learning, exhibition presentations, and portfolio assessments into our curriculum. This commitment reflects our belief in nurturing and enhancing the God-given talents of each student, recognizing the arts as a conduit for both personal expression and academic excellence. At TFA, Art Education is not merely a discipline; it is a testament to the finest aspirations of educational enlightenment.
At The Foundation Academy, we embrace Project Inquiry-Based Learning, placing a pronounced emphasis on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics). This approach empowers every student to contribute high-order thinking skills, complemented by their unique strengths. Our curriculum is designed to foster collaboration and research strategies, utilizing cooperative learning as a pathway to achievement. We are dedicated to providing college and career preparatory standards, equipping students with the tools for future success.
Parents express a distinct preference for the intimate educational environment at The Foundation Academy, valuing smaller class sizes, exceptional teachers, and the cultivation of personal relationships. The heightened focus on developing robust academic standards ensures that students benefit from individualized attention, nurturing their creative, academic, social, and emotional well-being. In choosing a private school, families find a closer-knit community that actively supports both students and parents in their educational journey.
We have an open enrollment system and fill classes based on availability.
The Foundation Academy is accredited by COGNIA and NCPSA

Accreditation is the launchpad for school improvement. Based on rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria, the process probes the whole institution—from policies to learning conditions and cultural context—to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of every learner.
Accreditation isn’t about passing a one-time inspection—it helps education providers meet improvement goals and sustain commitments to better learner outcomes.
From our recent Accreditation - "As I reflect on our journey together, I realize how fortunate I am to have been your Lead Evaluator. What seemed to get off to a somewhat slower start ended in an amazing outcome. Your program is so unusual and truly a breath of excitement. The way that your program began was with a complete focus on the underprivileged students of your community. I became one of those students along the way. My work was to guide you through the new protocol, hopefully enabling you to tell your story as completely as you could in alignment with our 30 rigorous Standards. What a journey that was! TFA students are indeed very fortunate to experience education through your chosen pathways. Ms. Nadia, your vision was critical to the success of your program. Although it has been developing over the years, it is exactly what students need as they transition into higher education and employment to day. As I have done this work over the years, sometimes similar programs have more limited results, whereas the skills and activities are embedded in daily life at TFA. And the contribution the school is making to the greater community is impressive. I am so glad to know about Agile/Scrum processes. As I did my own study to understand it well enough to do my work, I decided to talk to my engineer son-in-law who assured me that their plant crews must learn that process and how to use it. So, thank you for taking me on some learning journeys of my own." - Mary Anne Hipp
As a non-denominational Christian school, we provide a daily Bible study, engaging in thoughtful discussions on spiritual matters amidst the challenges of our often-turbulent world. It's important to note that we maintain a non-affiliated status with any specific church or religious organization, fostering an inclusive and diverse environment for our school community.
Annually, The Foundation Academy selects a central Essential Question that serves as the focal point for all research projects throughout the academic year. This unifying question not only aligns the entire campus but also provides a coherent framework for comprehending the underlying principles driving each project.
