Responsibilities
- Working in the classroom designated by the school Administrator under the direction of the teacher
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all the children
- Interacting positively in a friendly, calm, and nurturing manner with the children
- Encouraging and modeling social behavior and expectations appropriate to the age group
- Assisting the teacher in evaluating each child’s progress
- Attending two professional development opportunities each year
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong desire to work with children and make a difference
- Commitment to learning about Montessori philosophy and education
- Commitment to continued professional development
- Ability to collaborate with a dynamic teaching team
- Physical dexterity and ability to lift children up to 40 pounds
- High School Diploma or high school equivalence certificate
- Completion of DCFS requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree
- Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience working with children
